Incorporating The 8 Pillars of Wellness at GumGum

Did you know that there are 8 pillars that make up holistic wellness? How many are you incorporating into your daily life? 

Here are some tips on how you can incorporate them into your daily life and at GumGum. 

1. Physical: To be physically well, a person should exercise regularly, keep their body clean, and get proper sleep. 

  • Tip: Avoid screens for 30 minutes before bed to fall asleep faster.

  • GumGum: Attend the monthly virtual GumGum fit workout session. 

2. Nutritional: Eat a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables and avoid foods high in sodium and sugars.

  • Tip: Make your plate more colorful with a variety of fruits and vegetables. 

  • GumGum: Attend a GumGum Wellness nutrition-focused workshop (see the calendar for upcoming opportunities to participate)

3. Emotional: Emotional wellness is our ability to recognize and communicate our feelings with others. 

  • Tip: Start a journal to help you understand and work through your feelings.

  • GumGum: Global team members have access to an Employee Assistance Program. Each team member and member of their household has access to three free sessions per issue per year! Interested in more? Click here

4. Social: Social wellness is about developing and maintaining positive relationships with others. 

    • Tip: Schedule phone dates with friends you don’t see often to maintain your friendship. 

    • GumGum: Our #coffee-walk slack channel is available to all global team members and is a great opportunity to meet team members outside of your day-to-day and help build new connections!

5. Spiritual: Spiritual wellness is your sense of purpose or direction by which you develop the values that you live your life by. 

    • Tip: Meditate for a few minutes each day to help you center your thoughts.

6. Intellectual: Intellectual wellness is the act of lifelong learning, which can lead to new hobbies and interests. 

    • Tip: Join a book club to learn about different topics and talk about them with friends. 

    • GumGum: The Literary Ladies read and discuss a different each month!

7. Financial: Being financially well means living within your means and  prioritizing saving for your future. 

    • Tip: Set aside money each month for the things you’re passionate about.

8. Environmental: This pillar encompasses both your immediate surroundings and the community where you live and work. 

    • Tip: Drive less and opt for a bike ride or carpooling when you can. 

    • GumGum:  Sustainability is one of two of our newly created Global Social Impact Pillars. These pillars were chosen and designed to help us focus and push forward social impact initiatives that align with our overall business goals and values.
