Our VOICES x HOLA ERG: What Being Hispanic and Latinx Means in the United States

In celebration and honor of Hispanic/Latinx/Latine Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15), please join our HOLA ERG for their second 'Our VOICES' session celebrating HHM moderated by HOLA Executive Sponsor + VP of Marketing Strategy & Operations: Noe Marti.

Our VOICES, inspired by our WGG Inspiration Sessions - allow us to listen, learn, and AMPLIFY the voices of GumGummers and folks from underrepresented and non-majority groups, through education, active engagement, and discussion, in a safe and supportive space. Previous ‘Our VOICES’ include amplification of current events, and marginalized groups facing oppression; Women in Iran, Floods in Pakistan, Ongoing war in Ukraine, and Native American Heritage Month.

We'll be streaming a TedTalk: What Being Hispanic and Latinx Means in the United States (Fernanda Ponce) 12 mins, followed by a 30-min optional discussion.

Fernanda provides a first-person account of identity--addressing stereotypes and assumptions, and inviting the audience to dig deeper into the Latinx experience in the United States. Fernanda addresses the role of Latinx people in shaping the culture, politics, and economy of the USA.Fernanda was born and raised in Chicago, IL by Mexican immigrant parents, and grew up constantly surrounded by the large and diverse Hispanic and Latino community. Fernanda proudly identifies as a part of this community as a Latina, Hispanic, and Mexican American.

We look forward to seeing you there!
